I don’t know about you, but packing has always been my worst nightmare! Between the countless hours I’ve spent packing, the number of times I’ve forgotten something important, and the frustration of not packing enough, I have had a lifetime of packing mishaps.
Here are some packing tips I’ve learned over the years that will help you avoid these mistakes!
Tip #1
Prepack!
Prepacking essential items will save you the headache of remembering to pack all of the items you must have on your trip. Since you have to store your suitcase/bag anyway, you might as well store items that you know you will need to cut down on your packing time and to ensure you will not leave something important behind.
I have a toiletry bag prepacked with all of my essentials like a toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, etc.
To prepack items you use every day like toiletries, you can either buy an extra of each item to store in your suitcase, or you can use sample bottles to store things like face wash and shampoo (there are size restrictions on bottles when traveling by plane, so it is a good idea to pack sample sizes!)
Tip #2
Pack as you get ready
One way I pack is as I use an item. For example, as I do my makeup before a trip, I pack the items I want to take as I use them; This ensures that I do not forget any items. This also works for toiletries, so as you brush your teeth that morning, pack your toothbrush and toothpaste.
Tip #3
Make a checklist
Having a list of items you need for a trip is the best way to make sure you do not forget anything. Lucky for you, I created a checklist of items that I believe are essential for traveling! Click here to download my free checklist!
